The much-hyped alternate reality episode on Grey’s Anatomy this week had some interesting, humurous and poignant moments. And as it turns out, eveything leading to it, brings us up to where the show’s characters actually are.

Did you enjoy the episode this week?

I admit, I was not completely sold on the episode although I did like all the throwbacks and mentions about Izzie and Preston Burke.

In it, Ellis & Richard Webber are actually together, and Meredith Grey is Meredith Webber, a pink-loving, perky doctor who is engaged to Alex, who is actually cheating on her with April. As we know, April’s quite the virgin in the real world. In the alternate world, she’s actually not.

Cristina is still competitive and it is hinted that she was in a relationship with Dr. Preston Burke, but all her fierceness and competiveness drove him away.

Owen and Callie are married and they have three kids together. But Owen remains stuck with his PTSD issues. And Callie is beginning to realize that she likes girls.

Bailey is completely the opposite of who she is, and is rather meek as a doctor. She gets fired from her job, which essentially creates the Bailey we know right now.

Derek and Addison, as we all know, is together. But eventually we learn that Addison is carrying Mark Sloane’s child, which leads Derek to the bar, drinking with Meredith, which as we know, is how Grey’s Anatomy started out.

Still waiting for me to reveal who it is, well it’s none other then Summer Glau. Recognized for her most recent work on the The Cape, The Big Bang Theory and Termnator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles she will be now adding the hit series Grey’s Anatomy to the bill. She will be guest starring in an episode set to air in February sometime. Little information has been released regarding her role and what impact it could have on the residents of Seattle Grace. However, I am assuming as time progresses more information will be released and you will can catch it right here.

In other Grey’s Anatomy news Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) was spotted out and about with her 2 year old daughter Stella. The pair were seen last weekend leaving the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Los Angeles. Judging by the photograph and Pompeo’s attire I would have to say it was definitely a laid back day. It’s nice to see even celebrities let loose every once in awhile. I do have one question though, is it really that cold in Los Angeles right now? That puffy black jacket looks like it’s more for winter wear.

As Grey’s fans, myself included were glued to screens wondering when someone was going to reveal the tragic news of her husband’s death. I mean I didn’t have to worry about the “if factor” eventually she was going to find out, for me it was the “when”. Raver recently opened up about the tragic loss her character suffered recently on the show and teased what fans can expect to come from it.

When Raver first found out her husband on the series Henry would die, she said she wasn’t concerned but rather a little excited as she knows her characters has many layers to work through. This opportunity, or Henry’s death will showcase how Teddy grieves and according to Raver it will be played out in a different way. She added that Teddy is going to become a workaholic. This I am personally not surprised with as I could definitely see her character diving into her work rather than coping with her husband’s death.

As well, Grey’s fans can expect trouble and by trouble I mean obvious tension between Teddy and Owen on the show. Raver added it will be exciting to see what comes out of the tension for both her character, as well as Kevin McKidd’s as the storyline progresses.

What do you think will happen between Teddy and Owen?

Summer Glau, who starred the defunct series Sarah Connor Chronicles, will be on Grey’s Anatomy’s 16th episode of the season. In fact, according to sources, they did a table read of the story early Monday this week.

What character will she be playing? There haven’t been any official release, as the episode is still weeks away.

This to me is an absolutely interesting casting because I’ve never really seen Summer Glau do a series like Grey’s before. This makes it also a must-watch for me.

The show is about to make a landmark episode that will air on February 2nd, by the way, with its alternate world episode. Shonda Rhimes said that each of the actor really got a kick out of playing their characters differently and I can’t wait to watch Ellen Pompeo do her Meredith as happy and chippy.

Don’t you just love this series’ surprises?

According to Shonda Rhimes, creator of the hospital drama, the answer is no. Following the announcement of Capshaw’s pregnancy she was swamped with tweets questioning whether or not the pregnancy would be written into the script. Rhimes, however has confirmed it will not be and that actually Capshaw is already showing, but due to Grey’s Anatomy’s DP and costume designer, none of us have been able to notice. Great work guys!

Rhimes also tweeted that she’s crossing her fingers the schedule will work out so Capshaw won’t miss an episode. “Never fear, Calzonas — I GOT YOU!” she added. I love how Rhimes is usually quite quick to put an end to any rumours that might be surfacing regarding the show.

In other Grey’s Anatomy news, the series has been nominated for a GLAAD award. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation recently announced their nominations for 23rd annual GLAAD media awards and Grey’s has earned a nomination in the Outstanding Drama Series Category. The series depiction of Callie and Arizona’s trial and tribulations and wedding last season landed the series the nomination. Congratulations!!

This is exciting news, I definitely feel the couple deserve a little break. As well, it will be nice to see the two doctors return to their doctoring roots for a bit. Not that they weren’t doctors last season, but Rhimes also revealed fans will get a glimpse of Callie being a “badass bone surgeon.” She continued by saying they’ve had a lot of fun thus far exploring Ramirez’s character as a doctor.

Callie isn’t the only one with doctor screen time though. Rhimes added that we will get to see Arizona train Justin Chambers character Karev and will be able to see how that unravels. Come Valentine’s Day we’ve been teased that Callie will attempt to drop the baby of with Mark (Eric Dane) in hopes of having some “sexy time” with each other. Here’s hoping it works out for Callie and Arizona.

What are your predictions for Callie and Arizona’s storyline? Are you happy they’re getting a little break from the drama?

The actress, who is 31 years old, is a first time mother, and has been married to Peter Lanfer. The couple wed in 2002. But this is the first baby for both.

Obviously, the new parents are thrilled to welcome the family addition, whom they’ve named Micah Emmanuel Lafner. The baby weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces at the time of his birth in Los Angeles.

The couple immediately released the announcement of their son’s birth and said that they are hopelessly in love with the baby.

Sarah Drew plays Dr. April Kepner on Grace Anatomy and has been absent on the set for a while because of her due date with the stork.

She says that they didn’t want to find out the sex of the baby until the birth.

“I thought it would be a good idea to wait to find out because I am a control freak by nature. I’m about to walk into a chapter of my life where I have no control over anything anymore, and I figured I’d ease myself into it by not allowing myself to plan for the sex of the baby. It’s good training for me!”

Jessica Capshaw is apprently welcoming their third baby together with her husband Christopher Gavigan. The actress announced that she is with child on her Twitter account this week. Her husband is the founder of The Honest Co. and was the CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World. They have been married since 2004 and are raising Luke and Eva, who are both below five years old.

Jessica tweeted this message on her account:
“It is with profound happiness and sheer delight that @Christopher_Gav and I can say that another sweet Gavigan baby is on the way!”

On Grey’s Anatomy, the actress plays Callie’s lesbian wife, Arizona, and the couple already adopted a daughter in the series. Will her pregnancy be written in the show as well? Wouldn’t that be a nice surprise though, considering Arizona has expressed before she was never having kids. Will the writers make something out of her actual pregnancy condition, though?

According to the actress, she has already asked the producers of Grey’s Anatomy, particularly Shonda Rhimes, if she can come back to the show. Currently promoting her latest movie, One For The Money, Heigl said that she is not sure if she will be asked back. Although it seems she understands the position she’s putting Rhimes in,
“Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that I mean she’s got how many characters are there now? There’s a lot and so she’s balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes.”

She also says that she wants to come back because she wants to see where Izzie is at this point. When the actress left the show almost two years ago, she adopted a daughter and became a solo parent.

Will this eventually be sorted out and we see Izzie on Seattle Grace soon?

These are the doctors or residents on Seattle Grace. Curiously we’ve got one doctor missing here because when the show started in 2005, they did have Dr. Preston Burke. Instead, we have someone else in this table.

Dr. Miranda Bailey is apparently a meek version of herself in this alternate world. Would that somehow affect her status in the hospital?

Callie and Owen were apparently a couple long before Arizona came to Callie’s life. Curiously, there’s also no George in this episode. George was Callie’s ex-husband.

It appears they’ve made Christina Yang look fresh out of college. Is she as ambitious in this alternate world as she is in the actual one?

And finally Alex Karev is a nerd in the alternate world, which is kinda amusing.
